If you own a bicycle with any of the following Hollowtech 11 Road Cranksets  manufactured between June 2019 and June 2012 then there is a manufacturers recall.

Here's a breakdown of the models and the specific details related to their inspection:

  1. FC-R9100
  2. FC-R8000 (The left crank of FC-R8000 is not subject to inspection)
  3. FC-6800 (The left crank of FC-6800 is not subject to inspection)
  4. FC-R9100-P
  5. FC-9000

If you own one of these cranksets, check if your example is subject to the recall by reference to the Model and Production Code.

The following Production Numbers require inspection:

If your Chainset is manufactured in any of these Production batches, please refer it to your Local Shimano Service Centre, such as All Terrain Cycles.

They will inspect it for cracks or steps as below :

Righthand Crank Arm

Lefthand Crankarm

 

If your crankset shows any signs of cracking or steps it will be replaced with a 12 speed spider and appropriate 11 speed chainrings.
